OBEDIENCE

 Obedience....what is it?

As a Christian we should have heard the words Obedience  / Obey and that should be a lifestyle once we are a saved Christian.

Obedience is not optional when we decide to believe there is a God in heaven and we have a new way of being.

What do I mean by a new way of being?

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to the patterns of this world,  but be transformed by the renewing of your mind

This means simply learn a different way of doing life. 

A life full of peace,  patience,  love, goodness,  kindness,  gentleness,  joy, self-control,  faithfulness.  These blessings that are placed inside of us when the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us.

Once the Holy Spirit moves in, we begin to hear in our minds a better way to do life and as we do hear we should begin to listen  / follow the instructions we are hearing. 

This is called Obedience. 

It's similar to how as we grew up we obeyed our parents when they gave us instructions.. no questions asked...we just did it because,  well,  they were our parents.  Or at work you are expected to do your job...and follow the policies...well all of that is Obedience. 

So we as Christians,  are expected to OBEY our Heavenly Father even more than any earthly request.   Because, our Heavenly Father has much more to offer us when we obey.

Obedience, at first for a new Christian is not easy, because it requires a NEW learned behavior.  It requires the laying down of all practices, thoughts, spoken words...even relationships that may not benefit you.

It is not easy to do, but thank God for His grace.. Jesus who came to give us grace instead if the law.  This means as long as you continue to honestly and with sincere heart attempt to obey in your behaviors and words when we slip and recognize and acknowledge there is grace to try again or even keep going.

Our Heavenly Father is a God of second chances, of 30 chances of 1 million chances,  if it's needed,  but we hope we don't need a million,  but, I may, so I thank God it is available because of grace.

Sometimes we stumble but we learned from the thing that caused the stumble to hopefully not repeat it. 

Choose this day to obey and receive the blessings that flow from above,  simply because you choose to make a wiser decision that will impact your tomorrow.
