THE WAITING SEASON

The Waiting Season

What is that? The waiting season is a period of time where we move from one point in our lives to the next...there is season of waiting to get what we are waiting for.

This brings to mind the Israelites and their 40 years in the wilderness.  We all know the story that it was an eleven (11) day journey that took 40 years....WOW.  Have we ever truly wondered why / how 11 days took 40 years?

The bible speaks of the actions and behaviors of the Israelites in Numbers 14...please take your time and read the entire chapter.  There is too much important and significant information to pull out a piece of it.

But a piece to give you an idea is this....God gave a promise to them..."The Promise Land".  He said go in and take it...it is yours....but they would not they listen to the nay sayers and not the Lord, this was not pleasing to Him, so he refuse to allow any of the original Israelites go into the promise land except 2..those were the 2 two who listen to the word of the Lord and were not afraid and were positive and tried to encourage others to follow them.  But they did not so they wondered around the wilderness until they all passed away.

This is just a snippet of the story, but let me just pull out the main points to show you how it relates to us today.

The Lord has wonderful plans for our lives but, we need to get into agreement with Him or these plans will not manifest. Getting into agreement means accepting the path God puts you one without grumbling, complaining and being negative.  Studying His word and seeing how He is directing your steps. Not settling for less than what God wants to give you.

And most importantly; do not allow other voices to get into your head, it can cause a longer trip out into the wilderness.

We also need to remember to stay positive...it delays the time in the wilderness,.

Philippians 2 New International Version (NIV)

Do Everything Without Grumbling

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[c] Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

When we feel the need to grumble, complain and be negative that is a clear window into the heart. There is a heart condition that needs attention and worked on.

The heart is a vessel that holds the issues of life, good, bad or indifferent.  It must be protected at all cost, if not, eventually what is in there will begin to spill out and if there is anger, bitterness, jealousy, greed, pride, arrogance, rejection, abandonment, trauma, it is going to surface.

We have to be very specific with our issues, do not just give them a label and categorize things in one category; like for instance the adjectives I just listed above, a one word header would be HURT...oh I am so hurt. Now, let's look at this and really study the "HURT"...it could be so many different things than just hurt.

Find the root cause and then begin to pray to God to heal you in these areas, while we are in the season of waiting.  This is why we are in the season of waiting because we have things we must deal with.  We have hurts of all kinds that need to be rooted out.  That is why we complain, grumble and are negative because of the different emotions going on.

So while we are in the wilderness being purified this is one of the things God wants to do.  Cleanse us, He wants you to have a pure, clean and healthy heart.

He does not want his children hurting and stressing and ineffective for the kingdom.  He needs you be to healthy, mentally, emotionally and physically so you can be a witness to win more souls to the kingdom.

Begin reading Psalms 51 begin today to seek your healing in the waiting season and shave some time off the forty years and get closer to that eleven (11) day journey

The word tells us to guard our hearts

Proverbs 4:23 New International Version (NIV)

23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
