From GRIEF / GRIEVING to HEALING

From GRIEF / GRIEVING to HEALING

Mourning a loss is hard on anyone, matters not what we have lost, it is hard.  But it is also unavoidable.  As we suffer a loss we hurt, emotionally for sure, but mentally and physically.

Physical hurt from a loss is sometimes missed because who would have thought you could experience a physical ailment by a personal, emotional loss, but it is possible.

How, you say?  Well, our bodies begin to get tired for no reason, our routine has not changed, we are not doing anymore or any less than we were doing before the event occured.  But its a weight that has been placed on our shoulders and heart.  A weight of hurt and emotional pain that begins to weigh us down in our minds, which begins to manifest in our bodies.  It can disguise itself as stress, and with stress it can come out in lots of different forms, such as weight gain or loss, thinning of our hair, our attitudes can change, less tolerable or become irritable with out any real cause.  These are just a few things that can manifest, there are so many other ways grief / grieving can affect us physically.

Mental health challenges, also can surface.  Or minds begin to wonder.  Our focus is off or lacking.  Our memory begins to fail us and the attention span is less than stellar.  We may experience headaches or even migraines, but all we can think about is what has been lost.  Lack of understanding sometimes, depending on the loss we have faced

Emotional health is yet another challenge we can face during such a hard time in our lives.  The tears come, the hurt is incredible which feels as though we can not catch our breath because the crying won't stop.  Our heart feels that it has been not just broken but shattered and irreparable.  Our emotional state becomes very fragile, therefore causes us, the person, to be very fragile and need care.

We need loving care in our fragile state.

This is by no means the full list of what one can experience when going through a loss whether, expected or unexpected these are just some common feelings I know can occur, because I have lived through most of them, personally, but I know there is so much more I know nothing about.

And although, I may not have experienced some of the ones you have experience it does not make them any less hurtful.

And truthfully, they are necessary.  Those physical, mental or emotional things we go through are necessary to heal.

For a season, (a period of time) it is your portion, because grieving is a necessary part of life.  There will be loss on all sorts of scales.  But it is not intended that we stay in this state of despair

But God, He gave us a healing balm.  This healing balm goes by the name of Jesus Christ.

Begin to study scripture on how God wants to and can heal you.  It is no mystery or even a secret, but it does take diligence to receive the healing he has for you.  We must seek him.

God is enough, in fact He is more than enough, but we first must be tired of the way things have been going in your life to want healing.

The word says pick up, your cross and follow Him (one of several):

Luke 9:23 English Standard Version (ESV)

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Allow God to minister to you right where you are, you don't have to get yourself together before seeking after God, in fact, he prefers to meet your right where you are, so he can heal the pain that is so deep that only He can reach.

Let Him in, let Him give you beauty instead ashes and the oil of joy  instead of mourning.

Isaiah 61:3 New International Version (NIV)

and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

Lay down your hurts and let Him heal you throughout your whole body which includes, mind, body, soul.  He wants to do it, let Him.

Isaiah 53:5 New International Version (NIV)

But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
